Autoresponders
This is a
remarkable tool that plays a major role in the automation
process of internet marketing. Most of the
lead-generation and email follow-up campaigns in the
internet marketing world cannot be made possible without
the mighty
Autoresponder.
Many newbies to internet marketing may not have heard what an
autoresponder is. So, this is what it
is...
The word Autoresponder comes from the phrase Automatic
Responder or Email Automatic Responder. As the phrase suggests,
it is a tool that gives an immediate email response when
triggered. In essence, the Autoresponder is an email address
that functions in a special pre-defined manner. It has a
normal-looking email address format just like
xxx@aaa.com
and there is nothing that
differentiates it from any other email address. It
contains a series of pre-stored email messages with a
pre-defined time release schedule. For example, the
autoresponder may be preset to send its first message
immediately, the second message after 2 days, the third
message after 4 days, the forth message after 7 days,
etc. So when an email is sent to this autoresponder
address: xxx@aaa.com
, the preset messages will get
triggered. It doesn't matter what is the content of the
message sent to it. What it does is just responding to
the email address that it
receives.
You may ask how the first message get sent to the email address
of the autoresponder that would result in the series of
automated email responses. You may have come across websites
that has a little form which require you to key in your First
Name and Email Address before you can download an ebook, for
example. What you are doing is actually sending a blank email
to that particular autoresponder email address. Upon receipt of
your email, the automated email series will be trigerred and
you will then receive them in their preset
sequence.
Most of the popular autoresponder services provide built-in
anti-spam features to protect its users. Before the automated
emails can be sent, the receiver will first receive an
opt-in confirmation email which they have to reply to confrm
their agreement to accept these emails. And every email that is
being sent out thereafter contains an option for the receivers
to Unsubscribe themselves from that
list.
Not every website on the internet requires the service of an
autoresponder. If you are setting up a personal or family
website to share with the world all your family activities,
then there is no need for one. But in the internet marketing
world, the autoresponder plays the role of the persistent
salesman. Sales statistics have shown that most prospective
buyers need to be exposed to an offer more than 7 times before
they eventually buy the product. Without the service of the
autoresponder, most prospects will only remain
prospects.
An Autoresponder can also serve the purpose of an automated
Email Course where recipients receive a steady stream of
learning material according to a preset schedule. There are
many other functions of an Autoresponder which you will
discover when you signup for one. If you are serious about
doing business online, the autoresponder is an indispensable
tool. The 2 most prominent providers of this service is
Aweber and Getresponse.
I personally use
